The 13th Annual Denver Golfers Against Cancer (GAC) event held on July 25th and 26th was a huge success! The event kicked off Sunday night with the Gala at Pinehurst Country Club. The Gala crowd enjoyed a fun night of entertainment with Steve Azar along with a silent and live auction that featured some great items. GAC also honored Laura Foote who shared her amazing story.
The Gala was followed by the AutoNation Subaru West Golf Tournament the morning of July 26th at Pinehurst Country Club. The golfers experienced something new this year with the Hole Hecklers on the 3rd hole. They helped raise money for the cause. In addition to the fun from the Hecklers it was a beautiful day for golf and the participants in the sold out tournament had a great time.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and the participants, a total of $120,000 was raised for cancer research. The GAC Board will be reviewing the project in the next few weeks and then select projects to fund. With this year’s donation, Denver Golfers Against Cancer has contributed over $1.5 million locally to help fund cancer research and these funds have generated over $18,000,000 in additional grants for the projects supported. Two different projects funded in 2010 and 2015 have gone on to clinical trial.
The 14th Annual event will be held the July 24th and 25th, 2022. The event will be held at a new location that we are in the process of locking down and will share it with everyone once it it is confirmed. Please mark your calendars now to attend the great event.
We are also excited to share that we will be holding the 2nd annual Hitmakers event May 12th. Make sure to mark your calendars for this amazing event.
We are looking for additional volunteers and board members so if you would like to play a part in this great charity and event please contact us at [email protected].
Mark your calendars for the Subaru Share the Love event that runs from late November to the first of January. Autonation Subaru West has selected Golfers Against Cancer as their local charity and when someone buys a new Subaru during Share the Love, they can select GAC as their charity and GAC will receive $250. Last year GAC received over $25,500 from the Share the Love Event.
GAC is a national organization founded in 1997 by a group of Houston golfers who lost two close friends to cancer. Motivated to raise money for cancer research, they created an annual golf tournament with a live and silent auction, with proceeds going to fund grants for local cancer researchers. Thirteen years ago Denverite Scott Pearson established the Denver Chapter after having multiple family members diagnosed with different cancers. Golfers Against Cancer is unique in that it funds research projects that are in the early stages of development and would not normally qualify for federal funding. Currently, there are multiple GAC chapters throughout the US and since its inception, GAC has raised over $25 million nationwide to fund cancer research.
