Golfers Against Cancer (GAC) began in 1997 in the heart of Houston/Kingwood, Texas—the home of our National GAC Chapter—and 27 years later are still hosting GAC Annual Events.
The Houston/Kingwood, Texas weekend festivities start off with the Annual Gala Dinner and Auction (live and silent auctions) on Saturday evening. Followed by a 'thank you' Sponsor Golf Tournament on Sunday for ALL Corporate Sponsorships. Concluding Monday with our Annual GAC Golf Tournament and Mike Longpre ProAm events. United Airlines continues as the presenting sponsor.
Local businesses and individuals from all over have answered the call with sponsorship dollars and/or in-kind gifts to ensure as much money as possible is raised for cancer research. The silent auction, conducted by cell phone online bidding, is open and ready for action: text GACTX2023 to 76278 to start bidding on items now! The live auction on Saturday evening, which includes much sought-after golf trips, additionally will generate a lot of high-spirited competition to take home the prize by donating the highest bid. Enjoy a delicious dinner over LIVE music. A short presentation introduces our special honorees and the 'GAC Person of the Year' award will be presented to an individual, nominated and voted by the GAC Board of Directors for their contributions to the success of the organization.

WHO CAN PLAY AND WHAT IS THE COST?
Individuals and teams welcome! The Walden GAC Golf Tournament is A 4-person scramble format, open event for all golfers. Individuals can register for $150 and a foursome team for $600.
The 15th Annual Denver Golfers Against Cancer (GAC) event held on July 23rd and 24th was a huge success! The event kicked off Sunday night with the United Airlines Gala at The Denver Marriott at Park Meadows. The attendees in attendance enjoyed a fun night of entertainment with Buckstein playing music along with a silent auction that featured some great items. It was then followed by a short program where we honored Scott Nockels for his 4-time battle with cancer. We finished off the night with a live auction and more music from Buckstein.
The Gala was followed by the AutoNation Subaru West Golf Tournament on the morning of July 23rd at The Ridge at Castle Pines. Josh Cassady, Long Drive Professional who performed trick shots and hit long drives for all the participants and helped raise money for the cause. It was a beautiful day for golf and the participants in the tournament had a great time.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and the participants, we expect to raise $125,000 towards cancer research. The GAC Board will be reviewing research proposals next month. The Board will then select the three projects that will receive funding this year. With this year’s donation, Denver Golfers Against Cancer will have contributed over $1.8 million locally to help fund cancer research. These funds have generated over $28.1 million in additional grants for the projects supported. In addition, two different projects funded in 2010 and 2015 have gone on to clinical trial.

The 13th Annual event is currently scheduled for July 25th and 26th, 2021 at Pinehurst Country Club. Please mark your calendars now to attend the great event. Mark your calendars for the Subaru Share the Love event that runs from late November to the first of January. Autonation Subaru West has selected Golfers Against Cancer as their local charity. When someone buys a new Subaru during Share the Love, they can select GAC as their charity and GAC will receive $300. This year GAC received over $35,000 from the Share the Love Event.
GAC has been named as the beneficiary for a number of golf tournaments around the world as shown below. Contact us if you are interested in naming GAC as a beneficiary for your event.
This Champions Tour Event is held each year at The Woodlands Country Club, Tournament Course, Woodlands, Texas. The host sponsor, Insperity, is a Kingwood, TX-based company and long-time GAC supporter. GAC joins fellow beneficiaries M.D. Anderson, the Bush Foundation and the First Tee Program at this event. This event is televised by the Golf Channel.
GAC has friends across the pond with Golfers fro Rosemere. This group holds an annual golf tournament and dinner to generate funds for cancer research. Because of the common goals, our organizations support each other. We have been pleased to have the Rosemere golfers join us at our annual Houston events in recent years.

Just a few things to remember:

- A full hot breakfast buffet is served every morning and is complimentary to all guests staying in the hotel.
- The evening social is served Monday through Thursday with beer and wine from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
- The hotel shuttle service is complimentary to and from IAH airport. The shuttle runs Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. till 6 p.m. Please just call the hotel when arriving at the airport and the shuttle driver will head out to pick you up.
