Dear GACers,

While watching Sunday Today with Willie Geist, I heard him mention that Houston Methodist is the first medical institution in the US to treat COVID-19 patients with a form of immunotherapy.

Many of our research beneficiaries are the leaders in this crisis, including Houston Methodist and M.D. Anderson in Houston. From the Dinners for Cancer Research in New York City and Boston, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Columbia Presbyterian and Massachusetts General have been highlighted as well for their work in immunotherapy. Dr. Jim Allison at M.D. Anderson, who was our 2018 Person of the Year and a beneficiary of GAC funds, won the 2018 Nobel Prize for his work in immunology.

I don’t want to overstate our part but we have provided research grants for several million dollars on immunotherapy projects over the years that are now providing real-time benefits.
